That’s awesome. When you tell her how to aim, make it sound like no big deal. Then watch as she totally nails her shots. When someone shoots for the first time without any preconceived notions about how hard it is, they can sometimes do really good.

Large targets at only 15 yards to start out with,,,
Lots and lots of .22 shooting.

I've rethought the guns I was going to take,,,
In the past I've taken too many.

Here's the short firearm line-up:
  • Single action .22 revolver (Colt Frontier Scout)
  • Double-action .22 Revolver (4" S&W Model 34)
  • Double-action/Single-action .22 Semi-auto (Bersa Thunder 22)

These I'll hold back unless she says she wants to step up the power:
  • .38 DA/SA Revolver (3" S&W Model 36)
  • .380 Semi-auto (Bersa Thunder 380)
  • 9mm Semi-auto (Ruger LC9)
And just for grins:
  • .22 Semi-auto rifle (Scoped Beretta U22 NEOS Carbine)
I'll be mainly shooting my Ruger LC9,,,
I have the Twisted Industries .22 adapter for it,,,
So lots of .22 downrange with a few mags of 9mm as well.

Anyways I think she will have fun,,,
Her last words Friday at 5:00 were,,,
"We're still going shooting on Sunday aren't we?

Well we got to the range and had a blast,,,
But before you ask she didn't want any pics posted on the web.

She liked the little Colt frontier scout,,,
It was the first one she shot and she did well,,,
The first 18 shots had 13 that hit an 8" splatter target.

Next was the 4" Model 34 S&W,,,
In SA she did okay but in DA did miserably.
She only fired three cylinders before we moved on.

She took to the Bersa Thunder 22 like a duck to water,,,
She said that the three-dot sights made all the difference for her.

She ended up firing over a hundred rounds through the Bersa,,,
Her target looked like a sieve after that.

All of this was at 25 feet,,,
I thought she did very well for her first time shooting.

She did try a few rounds form the 3" S&W Model 36,,,
She said the recoil wasn't painful to her,,,
It just wasn't any fun to shoot.

We stayed with .22 for the day.

All told we were on the line for more than an hour,,,
I had a great time showing her the basic ABC's,,,
I think she picked up on them very nicely.

She didn't sweep me even one time,,,
And after only one reminder she kept good trigger discipline.

There was only one snag and I can't believe I didn't anticipate it,,,
I've worked alongside this young lady for almost 2 years,,,
How is it that I never noticed that she is left handed. :anyone:

Aarond

P.S. We will be going shooting again as soon as weather permits,,,
I think (hope) that I've started a new shooting enthusiast.

Excellent! It’s always fun to introduce the fun, and practicality of shooting to someone.
