Last night it got worse, much worse. It took all the self-control I have on tap not to do something foolish. This guy is giving it his absolute best to push me into doing something that will allow him to call the cops and get me arrested. I came home from work, and in and out to my car twice. Every time I came through the house, he was loudly harassing and threatening me. Said he'd already spoken to the sheriff's office, and the ATF. Nothing he's saying has any clout, because I'm a law abiding citizen, but he's throwing out accusations that range everywhere from me being a meth addict, to my dead mother having been..
I spent the entire rest of the evening in my apartment, with him coming and going...just standing outside my door. I've been trying to record these interactions, but my phone is only picking up bits and pieces of what he says.

I cannot function like this. The stress levels are beyond what is healthy, and I'll eventually snap. I came to work this morning (even though we aren't open for business) just to get away from the house, and a friend has invited me to come move in with him and his wife. I'm going to take him up on that, because they are both good friends, and the temporary loss of $ is far less important than my future.
Whatever you have to do to not do something stupid, you must do. Now that I'm older I never get mad but when I was young it was not easy when dealing with some people like that. Don't do anything but be calm. Just go silent if you can't be calm. It will be used against you immediately.

I’m curious, how old are you? If you don’t mind me asking

Sounds like a situation where you’re significantly younger than the A-hole landlord and he just doesn’t respect younger generations
I can see how you might surmise that, but no. I'm 50, and he's less than 10 yrs older. We both shared our military history during the initial interview, and we even served in the same theater of conflict, although different branches..and far different circumstances. He told me at the time that he'd chosen me from the prospects because of that history.

Perhaps he assumed that Marines are stupid, or saw me as inferior because I was dumb enough to serve in a combat role. I dunno. Don't really give a ****. I only need to return one more trip on Monday for my safe (it's empty) and I'll be done with the POS. I'm also gonna request a police presence when I go back. I'm not giving him any more chances to F with me.
