We just got back from Mercedes Tx after a 7 week stay at Llano Grande Country Club RV resort.
Met some folks in Colorado last summer that winter there and decided to join them.
That had to be the most fun 7 weeks in a row I can ever remember. No chores, no work, nothing to do but have fun.
The park is huge. 1300 slips, probably 3000 folks there. There is a bar, restaurant, three big heated pools, two big heated hot tubs, dances with bands weekly, keroki weekly in the event center that also has name brand bands in monthly, 18 hole golf course, lapidary shop, woodwork shop with the finest tools, RC car track, pool hall with 7 great level tables, Pilates, yoga, shuffleboard, pickle ball courts, tennis courts, laundry mats, 3 work out areas with the latest equipment, dog parks second to none we have ever seen, free ice, quilting classes, painting classes, and more I can’t remember. There is literally 20-30 things you can participate in each day.
The local community around the park opens up their businesses to Llano with 4:00 happy hours and local C&W bands plus discounts at some restaurants.
2 miles from the Mexican border. There is a 30’ tall levee right behind the park that allowed us to actually look down into Mexico. The levee has gators in it. Never had issues with anyone being where they are not supposed to be.
Park is adjacent to a state park that is a bird and animal sanctuary with trails everywhere. We averaged walking the dog 2-4 miles a day between morning and evening walks.
My wife does most of the picture taking, but I have a few.
Cactus plant is 8’ high, stalk 5” diameter.
Massy’s gun range east of Brownsville on the road to the Space X rocket facilities was phenomenal. He talks so fast it’s hard to understand him but his facility is pretty neat and since our group was all veterans, he took a special like to us giving us special tours of his gun rooms.
His first tour was into a room with 5 huge Liberty gun safes. Every one containing full auto weapons. Everything from MP-5’s to WWII German schmizers, M16’s, tommy guns, Ak’s, all for rent. He had dozens of full auto.
Next room was a fully operational Ma Duece naval version. (My dumb butt didn’t get a pic of the .50 cal)
Next room was the reloading room. Each machine is a dedicated caliber and operated with a push button and microprocessors to keep the hoppers full of primers, brass and bullets. Easily a $100,000 setup.
Those $2500 cabinets behind them were full of gun parts.
Speaking of Space X, their facility is on the road to Massey’s. We had a bit of a delay the first trip there because of a test in progress. A booster burn or something. The actual booster is under the cover that looks like a silver rocket base.
