I was a 4 yr old when the movie came out but found the book in my moms bookcase when I was 9 or so and took it to my room and read it cover to cover in one sitting,I couldnt put it down. Didnt scare me,more like it got me interested in the subject of paranormal activity though and started me on a lifetime of being interested in the creepier things in life. I wasnt a very good little Catholic kid. They lost me at 13. Me and my kid watched a documentary on the real occurence last night that Blatty based his book on and the younger priest who was there in attendance was the only person they interviewed and he is all they have to go on except for the written 'evidence' of it. He did corroberate what has been written about it too. But as usual all kinds of experts also came on to debunk it,even some that were around back in 49'. And the man who was that boy is still alive but doesnt give interviews. The documentary was pretty tame, wasnt spooky at all. I have the newest directors cut of "The Exorcist" movie with scenes not originally shown in the theatre when the movie came out and we watched it afterwards me being a bigtime horror fanatic. It scared the **** out of my kid though. I'm like Beetlejuice. Seen it a bunch of times and it keeps getting funnier every time...to each their own. I let my kid sleep over on the other couch instead of in his room. We sure are softer these days. My dad would have called me a wussy and sent me off to my room to sleep in the dark.
