The gist of the vid is that the whole cholesterol-causes-heart-disease idea is based off of one flawed study by an incompetent and unqualified person back in the 50s. His name is Ansel Keys. Over the years there have been studies, real studies, that have shown his conclusions to be wrong. But his aggressive personality and the media hype have created a monstrous machine around this false concept. There a quite a few vids on youtube about it, and not from new age whackos. There have been real discussions and debates around putting children on statins as part of routine care, offering statins as condiments with fast food to offset the supposed bad effects of the meal, and even putting statins in the water supply. The vid shows how they manipulate statistics when they say something like "Lipitor reduces heart attacks by 34%", when really it's about .4%. That's POINT 4 %. Hardly worth the risk when considering the side effects. Drug companies are not our friends, and science and doctors are subject to the same frailties as the rest of us when it comes to greed, job security, and reputation. Think of the industries involved in the cholesterol-is-bad thing; drugs, food, insurance. It would be hard to put the brakes on that train.
