I never had bad chow on any of the Air Force bases I was stationed at,,,
In fact two of them had won the Camellia Award for Excellence.

But, the best food I ever encountered in the service was at Camp Long Army Compound, Tae Jon Dong, South Korea.

It was good and it was plentiful,,,
And for an extra dime your order was taken and brought to you by lovely young Korean girls.

I never had waitresses at any Air Force Base.

I remember a story of the Special Forces (?Green Berets) in Vietnam. It seems a new guy was just reassigned and the older troops who had been through everything one could think of took this guy downtown to a fine restaurant in Saigon. The older guys said they'd buy and they put their order in and the waiter took the order and disappeared to the kitchen. The new guy was pretty hungry after just landing after a loooong flight.
Then here comes the waiter with a silver platter with a silver cover over the food. The waiter sets the platter down on the table and lifts the cover to expose a cooked rat! True story. They ate everything. I ate weevils. (bugs)
