A book by Gavin deBecker
deBecker is a security specialist and according to his bio he is chairman for a company called Gavin deBecker and Associates.
I have heard this book quoted and talked about by self defense instructors for a number of years. I bought it and read some of it but for what reason I don't recall it was pushed to the side and forgotten. Recently the book was mentioned again so I dug it out and finished it.
It is not an easy read, it takes time, so the question is, is it worth the time?
I think it is, but for me only parts of it. How the book applies will vary from person to person.
A part of the book that I found interesting was recognizing when something is about to happen, when you think "I knew he was going to do that". How did you know it, deBecker explains it. In terms of self defense understanding that bit of precognition can be life saving.
