Sorta on subject, is there any advice on dissuading fuel thieves trying to do this? Short of mounting some 1/2” plate under the truck? I’ve always been cautious/concerned about leaving my truck places when hunting and fishing, and now that I have a boat, I really feel that boat ramps are the perfect place to catch some vehicles left out in secluded areas unattended.

Not a thing you can do if you left the truck unattended.
I hate leaving my vehicle at a boat ramp parking area but it is something I must do sometimes.

JB weld will fix a hole permanently in a steel fuel tank as will brass braising rod.
Used both many times in my daily drivers.

Poked many holes in fuel tanks to drain them also.
