For starters, I had our farmer that leases our farms ask me if he could grow hemp over a year ago. I visited with the NRCS agent in our county about it. They informed me that the official position of the US Government is that marijuana and hemp even though hemp doesn’t contain THC is still classified as a narcotic in federal law and they have been instructed to remain mute on any advice to farmers about the subject. All that being said, I can drive you to a dozen grow houses that are being built in small communities or local farms in my area. Some buildings in the communities that have been vacant for years are being bought by foreign interests BTW for grows. The way I see it personally is that the feds are pretty much ignoring commercial operations and I see it being legalized on a national basis pretty soon although the feds will want their slice of the tax pie to feed that big belly it has. I haven’t visited with the NRCS since then and Ok has passed some laws since then but the feds still classify it as a narcotic.
