Besides the continuing and growing COVID-19 pandemic, Murder Hornets, protests, riots and demonstrations, and the Godzilla Dust Cloud from the Sahara? What is also weird to me is the almost total lack of June Bugs. Almost no June Bugs this June!

I used to like sitting outside at night, just off in the shadows a bit, with the porch light on, stealthily taking them out with my BB gun. Between my bug assignation tactics and the frogs hopping up on the porch to gobble them up, I would see the June Bug population reduced by a significant number. And no, I never popped the frogs either.

Where have all the June Bugs gone?
    Gone forever, every one
Where have all the June Bugs gone?
    Dropped by BB's every one?

I've noticed not nearly as many other bugs this year, too. I have kept my mouth shut for fear of jinxing things, but the mosquitoes this year in my neck of the woods are all but nonexistent.

<edit> But I agree, I am trying to think if I have seen even ONE Junebug this year.

I don’t think we usually start seeing June bugs until July. Have seen a couple. Seems like fewer butt light bugs too. Have seen some but not many.

There are tons of fireflies in my area. I’ve seen a few June bugs, but not many.

Sitting on the patio this past weekend, lovely bride commented about the seemingly low population of bugs, especially mosquitoes.
