Not for a while. For one, cell towers will have to be upgraded to offer both 4g and 5g, the fiber networks to the towers will have to be upgraded/expanded to offer the bandwidth that 5g is capable of (what most people don't know about cell towers is there are usually three entities involved: the tower owner who rents space to the cell providers who get their bandwidth from a backbone provider). It is going to be awhile before 5g is more common and the speeds come anywhere near what the 5g potential is. In a few places its launched people have complained that its no faster than 4g. That's easy to understand as cell providers never really maxed out the capacity of 4g, so if they use the same backbone the speeds are not going to be any different (basically its like if you upgraded your old Linksys WRT54g router with a Netgear Nighthawk but only had a 30 Mbit/sec plan from your broadband provider, you won't see any faster wifi speeds than before). So give it a year or so before you even think of upgrading. And if your current phone does everything you need/want, don't bother yet.
