While a shotgun would be useful I think I'd go with my Ruger 9E full size 9mm. An old Stevens 87A w/18rd capacity (no maganizes to worry about) with a straight 4x32 scope, and and AR-15 in 5.56 with 20" barrel and a 2x-7x optic of some sort (And BUIS of course). The pistol for easy carry self defense. The .22 for small game survival hunting (less noise, draws less attention). The 4x32 scope is plenty for a .22lr and more durable, compact, and easy to use than an adjustable scope. The AR for larger game or defense. The 2x-7x optic provides for close to intermediate range sighting. Edit: Changed my mind on the .22. It was originally a Marlin Model 60, but the Savage 87A allows for the use of .22 short ,long, LR, and subsonic. So It could be even quieter if needed. You can even run it as a bolt gun if you want. (I don't just like my Gill-Guns for the novelty....)
