No, it isn't what you think, so continue reading. The wife and I retired yesterday (June 30, 2014) from out state jobs and are now in the process of becoming used to the idea of being unemployed and preparing to leave on Saturday to begin a move to Colorado to be near family. Some time back, I made a comment in passing in someone else's thread about a "big reveal." So, here it is... ...we retired from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The wife was management (most recently division manager) of the Information Technology division and I worked in what is called the Crime Data Collection and Analysis Unit in what I'll call the "records division." In reality, it is called Information Services Division, but that doesn't really explain what we did. We maintained the criminal records for the state of Oklahoma. In my years at the Agency, I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of people there, and I can tell you that they are a great bunch of quiet professionals. They don't consider a cold case as closed. Numerous cold cases of 20 to 30 years have been solved in my time at the OSBI. In addition, the Self Defense Act department has received the help of a lot of people outside of that department over the years to help get the concealed carry licenses processed in a timely manner. I can safely say that even the Agency Director has had the SDA program installed on his computer so that he could help some in his spare time. So, in essence, the OSBI sincerely has the best interest of the citizens of the state of Oklahoma at their very heart. The OSBI has served you well for roughly 90 years. It has been a sincere pleasure as a part of the Crime Data Collection and Analysis Unit of the OSBI to help insure that the criminal records that are entered are entered correctly. You can be proud of such a dedicated team of quiet professionals. Now... ...nothing I have done in my time here on OSA has been spent "mining for information" to be "revealed" to anyone. If anyone's license was denied, it was likely because one didn't fill out the application right, lied, or has done something wrong in their past. That said, I now need to make a list of things to do for preparation for moving to Colorado.
