Tips, tricks, witchcraft?

Guys, I can’t get this AR barrel nut to come loose. It’s a standard GI style that seems to have been torqued to at least 37,193 ft lbs. My biggest issue is not having an AR vise attachment and I’m not willing to mess up the upper trying something stupid. Any advice, other than buying the vice attachment?

Why not buy the vise blocks? They're cheap and will prevent you from messing something up...

AR vise blocks are a must have.
Try to heat it up with a heat gun or at the very least, a hair dryer on high for a few minutes.

Apparently I will be getting vice blocks. I’ve seen a few different AR vise attachements. Do you guys recommend a particular one?

If you're strapped for cash I'm sure someone would let you borrow a set...but I believe if you're an AR owner you should have the wrench and blocks at the very least.

I'e been using the Pro Mag vise blocks for a few years now. Very pleased with it.
And go with the DPMS AR wrench, don't cheap out on it.
I got a cheap one from Marks firearms in Moore a long time ago and it was so out of spec I ended up rounding out a barrel nut. I haven't shopped there since.

It's not difficult. Just gets expensive.

If you want to PM me your address, I will print (3D) one off for ya and get it in the mail thursday. They are like $11 bucks new, but I know being a young guy in the Military can be tough cash wise.
