If you want to get the nut off ASAP let me know I have one of the Brownell's style reaction rod. It interfaces directly with the barrel so no chances of tweaking the aluminium. I also have a portable vise so between the two of us it shouldn't be an issue to get it apart.

the barrel nut might have been blue loctite bedded, if you're near Edmond i have a DPMS claw and a heck of a cheater breaking bar. you could drop by and remove it while you wait. the reaction rod is the best tool, but they are pricey, i've used the Claw on large and small frame AR's and torqued the barrels to 75 pounds. if it is blue loctite bedded you will need a heat source to break it down, maybe a high wattage blow drier?

I was in the process of moving and had to pull a barrel off once. Remember, if it looks stupid but works then it ain’t stupid.
