My ol trusty Jw-15 is in need of a scope upgrade for squirrel hunting, what are YOU using that you'd recommend.

Really only wanting to hear from personal experience squirrel hunting please, not interested in target/range scopes

My current 'squirrel gun,' a 17 HMR, is sporting a Simmons 8-Point 3-9x40. It was on the rifle when I bought it, and many a squirrel has fallen from a head shot from that rifle. Prior to that, more than one .22LR (usually a single shot), has served me just fine with a Tasco or Bushnell. Nowadays, there are so many more options, I honestly don't know what I would choose. BUT, I dare say I would be a bit pickier and spend a bit more money. Good luck with your search!

Of you wanna go fancy, I love my leupold VX3 4-14x40 with a 30mm tube. It’s great.

my all time favorite squirrel scope is the primary arms acss scope. At 6x it’s a little powerful for close up work, but it’s fantastic all around. Great clarity, the reticule is fantastic, and it’s cheap/small.

I've got a weaver K4. It's got fine crosshairs. My loaner squirrel gun has a redfield wideview that's straight 4x. Love them both. Can pick them up on ebay for reasonable price most of the time.
