In a world that is obsessed with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I am glad to have a day like today. For those who don't know, donations made today through Facebook and Paypal to registered charitable organizations are eligible for matching funds. I know several of us with SAFE-NOW have saved up money we were planning to donate earlier this year until today in the hopes that our charity would net some of the $7 million set aside to match them. I believe in some years past, there was dollar-for-dollar matching by the Gates Foundation, but anything extra for charity is worthwhile. So today I'm just asking you to stop and think for a minute or three about what you can afford to give, and to which organization. This is a time of year when the demand increases on a lot of charities, and I am glad to be able to help out. I'm not soliciting you guys to give to our organization, I'm asking you to give. Give something, somewhere. And share #GivingTuesday on your social media platforms, send out a quick email at work, whatever. Encourage others to give, too. This type of giving spirit is what continutes to make America so special. Have a great day, in spite of it being freaking 18ºF outside!
