I met him in Airport once a very nice man. He had a couple dim opponents really torch his name in elections falsely. I did feel like as he got sick he started to move way to much to the middle more like GWB and turned from some of the things I liked so much about him politically. As a man I think he was one of the few good ones in DC.

I have known Tom since high school. He was every bit what he appeared to be. A man of total integrity, and principle. He was great fun to be around, even if a bit bull headed at times. That is what most of us loved about him.

He had a very attentive staff that would actually talk and listen to constituents on the phone. That reflected the kind of dedicated public servant he was.
