He's shooting a round in .22 mag that is designed to be a rifle cartridge. The pistol doesn't give the .22 mag time to generate enough pressure to develop velocity.
I did a chrony video on here years ago using a davis derringer in .22mag.
You can shoot .22 RF from them as well, but it's not recommended because you have to dig the case out of the chamber.
The 2" barrel with .22 mag only generated 900 some fps.
The .22LR matched it.
Put them in a rifle and the difference will obvious.

Another thing, the bullets on 22 Mags are FMJ’s and not just lead or copper washed bullets like on 22LR’s.
I have .22 mag rounds that are ballistic tip, hollow point and FMJ, but I think you meant copper jacketed, not FMJ's vs copper washed .22lr's?
