Safe rooms/shelters are a good idea, and I'm all for them. But we also have built-in "snow days" in Oklahoma for crying out loud.....can't we add a couple of "severe weather days", too? Meterologists were harping about this system last week, and pinpointed Monday as one of the most critical days. When it looks like it's a sure thing that there will be severe weather on a certain day, why can't they inform parents that on such-and-such day, conditions are right for severe storms, so school will be out that day for student's safety? Outside of that, figure out a way to add safe rooms or shelters to schools. But the quick day off would cost one hell of a lot less.
