I have been considering buying a 5th wheel. I like to travel and fish and while I don't mind camping, tents in August don't do it for me. Plus I view it as an opportunity for my wife and son (currently only 1-yr) to go more often. I know I have seen people tow a boat behind a 5th wheel and know I guy that tows from Dallas to Canton every year. Now my boat trailer is a little long, but even with the shortest 5th wheel I can find I still cant stay under the 65-ft min. Most 5th wheels are +30-ft, add a decent 3/4 ton pickup and you are at 50-ft without a 2nd trailer.

I am missing something, or are people just doing it without getting caught/ticketed? Or just doubling up with smaller boats, ATV trailers etc?

    b. vans, suburbans, blazers or other similar types of vehicles and self-propelled recreational vehicles with a three-quarter (3/4) ton or more rated capacity, may tow a semitrailer and one complete trailer or semitrailer for recreational purposes only, provided the overall length, inclusive of the front and rear bumpers, does not exceed sixty-five (65) feet

I want to watch you back your boat down the ramp before you park your camper, what are the price of the tickets? Ha Ha

I do have a friend that used to tow his trailer and boat frequently and did well with it. He said it was a little hard over in Arkansas with some of the curvy roads and hills.

Good luck to you, have fun.

Op, you need to first find a 5er that is capable of having a hitch fabricated to the rear of the frame and capable of towing a 3K-4K pound boat/trailer combo, or whatever it is you would fish out of. Just because a fab shop "could" weld a hitch on it doesn't mean you should. If you are serious about this you should go over to irv2.com and ask away. We drive to Montana every some and all throughout Wyoming, Montana and Idaho we see triples all the time.

Yes^^^^ Our RV's trailer couldn't pull squat. Its designed to hold the poop tank drain hose and that's it.

Our RV was ordered with a receiver hitch to be added, and its capabilities are 3000 pounds weight to pull and 300 pounds tongue weight. I'm pretty sure you are OK in the west, but some states back east do NOT allow triple towing.

Thanks guys. I am mostly looking to haul around OK and Arkansas. I haven't begun looking into a specific brand/model yet as I am still working out the legalities of triple towing and if I can make it work with the boat I have. It may be too heavy and long to stay legal.

You may use a large size trailer for that, open trailers have many variations and use any heavy-duty truck like ford f150, dodge ram 500, I am using Ram 5500 which is being used for Nyc Blocked Driveway Towing Service. and its a very powerful truck.

I was almost in this predicament wanting a place to lay my head with wife and kids and take one of my boats with me as the boat is the reason to go to the lake.

I am a tight wad or maybe I am about putting a pencil to it because I need to see the bottom line.
Pull vehicle was not an issue as I could build anything I need.
I had 455 Oldsmobile engines at the time.
Buddy had a nearly new only used for 2 weeks travel trailer $2500 30 foot.
My Bayliner is a 15 footer. I also had a 17 foot canoe and 4 HP outboard I clamped on the side..I ran trot line and drift fished many lakes and the Arkansas river below lock 16.

    Now the pencil.
Cost of fuel would be more I needed to pay for a camp spot or hookups $
I need to clean the crapper and empty it ..If I cook fish or bacon inside on a rainy day the RV will get pretty smelly.
Insurance on the RV. Tires and blow outs.
I figured we went maybe 6 times a year to the lake with the family and stayed the night.

I could stay in one of the Oklahoma state park cabins cheaper than I could do the RV thing.
Then no crapper to empty. and they have the stove fridge and heat and ac and all the cooking supplies except food.

    I just pull my boat.
When I go hunting or fishing by myself or a guy buddy I just sleep in a tent or my vehicle.
    Sometimes sleep in the boat.
