Thanks to an escaped bolt, I find myself in need of new tires for my truck (this bad boy is as close as you can get to the sidewall without actually being in the sidewall). Can any of y'all recommend a decent tire shop in the Tulsa area?

Lots of options...Walmart and Sam's have decent prices and install rates. I recommend buying tires online and taking them to a Hispanic shop. It usually costs $40 to mount and balance a set. If you don't mind paying retail, Firestone has good service.

Do you just want a cheap set of tires? Or are you wanting a certain type or long lasting, quiet, mud snow? I have had my work truck into Firestone at 91st and Yale and Robertson on 85th and Delaware for service without issue at both places. I can tell you tires have pretty good markup. Make sure you shop price on the exact tire you want and with same service. IE mount, balance, lifetime rotation and road hazard. If your a Costco member they have good prices on Tires also.

Also check to see if they want an appointment first. Lots of places now want appointments if you don't' want to waste half a day on an hour job if you can't drop it off.

Find a good price online on a tire you want, then go to Robertson Tires website and under Current Offers, look for Price Match Guarantee. You should get to a place where you can enter a URL for the tire you found (could be Costco, Walmart, or wherever). They will email you probably within a couple of days (I think I submitted it over the weekend and they emailed me Monday) and tell you what they can do. If you have questions, they will also discuss other options. I was told that the tire companies make a slightly different/cheaper tire for Costco and Walmart so they can sell it cheaper, but Robertson matched Costco's price anyway. I know, could be a story, but the model number was slightly different, and the price wasn't.

I bought my last set of tires that way, and was so happy with the experience I've been going to them for oil changes ever since. I would definitely buy tires from them again. I told that guy I was swapping emails with it was the best tire buying experience I have ever had, and I used to have a friend in the tire business. LOL!

I know the tires I want; I'm mostly looking for recommendations about who does the best on prices and service. I had a few places I could trust in Norman, but that's a long drive with no spare, and my luck ain't that good.

FWIW, I normally order my tires from the Tire Rack and pay to have them installed locally, but I do buy locally if they're competitive on price.

Just don't let them do a tune-up on a V8 Camaro; they'll only change 7 of the 8 spark plugs because one of them is too hard to get to.
    Ask me how I know...
