I can assure you that the things I was exposed to as a young man with an internet connection were not "sex." Even though they appear similar.

Porn has done more to damage people than any illegal narcotic or dangerous weapon we could have handed them.
Sssooooo are you saying I'm damaged goods? :laugh6:

I think a lot of you guys aren't factoring in that smartphones and internet are making children get exposed to sex a lot earlier in life. And it's not just plain ol' missionary these days or finding dad's playboy mags. Kids are getting addicted to porn before they hit puberty and by the time they are in middle school they have extreme fetishes like gangrape, torture, and scat.

Even if you think you have parental controls on all your smartphones and computers.. the kids are finding ways around it, or they always have the one friend whose parents don't give a crap enough to put filters on anything.

Keeping it in the pants and wearing condoms is literally "old school" strategy now. Sure those rules still apply, but chances are most parents here aren't equipped to handle a teenage son whose dopamine receptors have been fried out at age 12 from constant porn addiction.

Yeah, that is something my wife and I have talked about too. It is also a topic that comes up with our teenage son from time to time. There is typically a little bit of humor injected in to make it slightly less uncomfortable for him and gives us something we can all laugh about a little, but it gets the topic out there and lets him know we aren't as oblivious as he sometimes thinks we are or some of his friends' parents may be.

I've let him know how I foresee his coming of age years to be far different than mine were and on a completely different planet from what his grandfathers' were. The sexual expectations of some kids growing up today are probably shocking and I am curious to see how that develops into healthy relationships with a partner. I know a few of us here have a tendency to cry the sky is falling with the younger generations, but time has proven each one will find its way. I also have to remind myself that the things that make headlines aren't the norm, they're the exception and that is why they are "newsworthy".

What I find amusing about this is that I took a very similar class in the 9th grade, in SoCal. In 1969. I did none of the homework, and still aced all the tests. It was the only class I passed that year. Mom and step-Mom both got pregnant by my dad about 6 years apart, and married him. Both made sure I, and my brother(s) & sisters knew what caused that, and how to avoid it in most cases. FYI, the Catholic Encyclopedia has a very good section of human reproduction. Though one of my 1/2-sisters discovered for herself that the rhythm method doesn't always work. And in her later years, when I was a senior in high school, Mom found that she'd forgotten something. Only "system" that actually works is abstinence. Though there are two systems that are close... Orange Juice, and Aspirin. Orange juice is instead of having sex. For the Aspirin method, you place one tablet between your legs, and keep it there! Not always reliable, either, and close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and atomic weapons.

Might also explain why I felt I had to leave Cali in 1973...

How is this wrong?

"The sex ed program, called Positive Prevention PLUS, is an "evidence-based program" that "provides students with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and unplanned pregnancy," according to the opt-out form, posted on the district’s website."
Because it’s not the school’s job to teach this. This is the parent’s responsibility.

Also you failed to quote the rest of the article:

“The instruction also includes issues such as anatomy, gender identity and expression and sexual orientation.”

I included a snippet of the article as most people tend to comment with bothering you read linked articles. Yes, I saw that part. I didn't fall to include it, I chose to NOT include it, as preventing unplanned/unwanted pregnancies is highly important, considering this is there liberal bastion of Tulsa public schools.

The sex Ed isn’t my concern and I doubt Catholic school has started teaching 97 made up genders.
Nope, but when I went there they did use the 'tape metaphor' that tells rape victims are the unable to truly bond with intimatr partners because of their abuse and told us that if we had 3 beers and smoked marijuana you would absolutely 100% die. When kids in the class can stand up and say "Nope, I know thats not true I did it last weekend" you stop believing anything they say.

If you don't think HOMOSEXUAL INDOCTRINATION will be taught in this class, you my friend are likely the one doing it, right? Where do YOU think most of these sexually transmitted diseases came from? Public schools mission is to teach kids the three R's, not sexual perversions! The enternment media is doing a very adiquate job of indoctrination on that subject! Private schools sound better all the time!!!!!!!!!!
