Without so much as a single word on the label, Hormel has decreased the amount of hash in its Mary Kitchen Roast Beef Hash from 15 oz. to 14oz. The ingredients have changed as well. Sodium went from 790mg per serving up to 990 mg, probably because they added "yeast extract" which in truth is monosodium glutamate. I can't eat MSG. I'm allergic to it. I used to really like that hash. How I caught on to this is when I bought a couple cans to keep my stock up and noticed the new cans are not as tall as the old ones when I was stacking them in the pantry. Unless you read every detail on the label, the labels appear to be identical(See Attached Photo.). If there was some indication that there was a change in volume and/or the ingredients, I would have read the label and not bought the stuff due to the inclusion of MSG. I don't remember what I paid for the earlier cans of hash, but if it was the same "price" as what I paid for the new cans, it amounts to about a 7% increase in profit without increasing the price.
