I would like to have the engraved "LORETTA" on my Glock slide (see photos) removed, or covered over, or otherwise obliterated. How can I

Cheaper to buy a new slide.
That's a job for an engraver and they don't come cheap. Rout out the affected areas. Install a decorative plate into the recess. Engrave something else.
I had my initials engraved on a handgun and later regretted it. Nearly impossible to fix except for the above remedy. Sold it.

Or you could take to calling it "Hot Lips."Better yet, just name the pistol Loretta.
If y’all are out in public, your wife could ask “hey, did you invite Loretta?” Instead of “did you bring your GUN?!?”

I've never kept a gun long enough to get any type of custom engraving done, let alone name any of my guns.

Then you'll have to be really careful you don't absentmindedly call it by another name...Better yet, just name the pistol Loretta.
