Hey guys, new to the forum here. I'm finding some really helpful information here. I've been shooting for quite a long time and have always been interested in trying out a competition just to see how I might do but I have never known where to really start. If it's possible I'd like to just run a couple stages before I were to jump into a full fledged competition. I'm unaware of any outdoor ranges near me ATM. Could anyone provide me some information or maybe help put me on the right path to get me started?

Thank guys!
Hi there!

Are you still looking for shooting competitions to get involved in? I have a great opportunity that not only allows you to compete, but is also for a good cause.

I work for Make-A-Wish Oklahoma and we are thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual Shooting Stars Sporting Clay Challenge to fund the heartfelt wishes of Oklahoma children.

This is a Sporting Clay event held at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and it will be set up like a golf tournament with up to 5 participants on each team. The event is going to be on April 7th, and we would love your support! Shooting Stars is open to men and women and entails a fun and relaxing day spent outdoors with great food, shooting clays, and live auction items. Participants will come together to raise funds to help grant wishes for children, here in Oklahoma, battling life-threatening medical conditions.

If you are interested in signing up a team, please contact [email protected] or 405-286-4000.

We are hoping to grant 140 wishes this year and we wouldn’t be able to do that without great supporters in our community! Thank you for considering Make-A-Wish Oklahoma and the brave children we serve in your community giving.

the Oklahoma City Gun club is hosting their 1st monthly Cowboy Action match this weekend at the cowboy pistol range. the entrance is off Hiwasse past the shotgun entrance. shooting starts at 10am. Gatherers begin assembling about 9am. Cowboy action is two period correct single action revolvers, a lever action rifle and either an 1897 pump shotgun or any period SxS shotgun for six stages of fun!

on Sunday, we are hosting Wild Bunch action shooting which is 1911's, lever action rifles and period pump action shotgun's for six more staged of fun. There is more movement and more rounds per stage for wild bunch. pistols usually have a round count of 25, magazines are only loaded with 5 rounds to ensure 5 reloads. THere is more movement, more action targets and all sorts of fun! Same range, 10am. Come join us and experience the fun!

We love having spectators and they are always welcome! We'll even put guns in your hands so you can shoot a stage or two. we have a number of new shooters right now so matches are geared toward helping them get up to speed. My cowboy name is Hurricane Deck, you can ask for me, Flat Top Okie or Missouri Mae (they are the rangemasters for the cowboy club). or just go shake a hand or two and they can point you in the right direction. There are no unfriendly cowboys.
