Have you actually made/used a solar still? But you can carry clear plastic trash bags or paint drop cloth and do the same. I always have clear plastic bags in my truck and other hidy holes just for a solar still.

Yes, I have. You? Probably not as complicated as using a giant lens from a projection tv, but it still makes clean H2O from vegetation and crappy H2O.Have you actually made/used a solar still?
It also takes forever and contaminates my water with micro-plastic.Yes. Probably not as complicated as using a giant lens from a projection tv, but it still makes clean H2O from vegetation and crappy H2O.
Well, the purpose of a solar still, or an evaporation still is to provide enough h2o to survive long enough to procure it through some other source. The goal is to keep you from becoming a raisin. If I'm turning into a potato chip, my last concern is micro-plastic contamination that may or may not be an issue. It also takes forever and contaminates my water with micro-plastic.
Perhaps I could repurpose the still to be small enough to pack? It could be built at a reasonable size to keep in a vehicle. Just a tad too large for backpacking. If you were using the lens to boil the h20 for evaporation, you could have built a fire and done it quicker.
Since we are in OK, I'm not too concerned about not finding h2o...but I do travel via truck all over including NM and AZ, so.
They make inflatable ones, that are in boat life rafts. You might look into getting one of those.Perhaps I could repurpose the still to be small enough to pack? It could be built at a reasonable size to keep in a vehicle. Just a tad too large for backpacking.
