Took five hours but closed out zone 1 season with a two man limit, ten mallards and two gads.

Somehow the plug for the boat went missing since last weekend and we were determined to use the boat while duck hunting. A surgical and a mechanix glove teamed with a 2" ball hitch with a 3/4" shank had us on the water and perfectly dry (water was from the decoys). Between the ice and lack of birds, we were skunked.

Ha ha the only farming I'd ever end up doing is with a herb garden and a herd of fainting goats, if my wife had her way.

Farmers don't need anything but bailing wire and something to hammer with to make it through the day. Some duct tape comes in handy sometimes.

Had the kind of duck hunt you dream of this morning. Rowed the boat over and through ice then busted a 40' x 40' hole for the birds to land in. Threw out 8 decoys and proceeded to watch the birds circle and cup up. 2 drake mallards crashed in after being shot and disappeared under the ice. The pictures don't do justice to how amazing a sight it was with them locked under ice. We just watched more mallards come in while waiting for the bonus birds to show. 2 gadwall completed the limit. Side note: the 2" ball hitch is still in the boat drain and holding fine lol

Nice congrats!!!! Cool pics too of those ice eaters Pretty slow for us this morning, killed a few. You know it's a bizarro season when the first bird killed this morning on Jan 26th was a drake green wing teal lol.

Thanks! It definitely has been. We saw a few teal and 3 gadwall. Those were the only bonus birds around and the teal would have none of it.
