Another good morning.

You always have a good mixed bag of birds Okie. I'm jealous lol. Always gads and mallards at our spots.

Used to be always wigeon, wigeon, and an occasional.....wigeon lol. Last three years has really changed a bunch, same water and areas, variety of birds now though.

Warm weather quick limits this morning. Mostly teal, tons around still.

Dang, if I had thought about it, I should have tried to tag along with y’all hunting ducks this weekend and save money on licenses...

Joined in on a traveling decoy schedule with some friends from Twitter. It started in Canada and will end in Florida. I have the decoy right now, so in between deer hunts, I jump ponds on the lease midday. On Wednesday I christened my new SX4 over it with a drake mallard. Didn't take waders, so I fished him out.

I went to another pond and prematurely fished the birds via a bedded 6 point next to the pond...of course you see bucks when chasing ducks.

He went to the deer stand with me Thursday morning, but no luck.

I headed to some ponds and got close to 10 gadwall. Knocked 1 down but the others got a scare. I then hit another pond which had been holding hooded merganser, but will jump when your 200 yards from it. I took a stroll through the woods, circling way around the pond and was able to shoot a beautiful drake, which I plan to get mounted. Lord knows that's all they're good for. I ate one once and only once.

We'll be at it again some this weekend and next before sending him on his way.
