We had an estate sale for my in-laws here in Stillwater in 2014 when they moved into assisted living. Included in the sale was my FIL's registered engineer seal (looks just like a notary seal squeezy thingy). About two years ago, it turned up at a garage sale in OKC. Someone recognized his name and affiliation with ODOT and they knew someone who knew him and got it back to him. Pretty cool story!

My brother has this awesome treestand he let me hunt out of, it's an API, one of the big non climbers. I searched craigslist and ebay for quite a while looking for one. Well, I was answering an ad on Craigslist about an upright frost free freezer for sale, $50 bucks, told the lady I would take it. Went to pick it up, while looking at it noticed a bunch of stuff laying on the floor, she said it was garage sale leftovers, fishing poles, trolling motors and TREESTANDS! Casually glanced them over and bam, my stomach flipped, API and 2 others, asked as calmly as I could what she wanted for the 3 stands, $15 bucks, bummed $15 bucks off the wife, asked what she wanted for the 4 trolling motors, FREE, sold one of the stands to a coworker for $25, put the trolling motors on CL for $20, lady came and picked them up, I just gave them to her. API stand ended up being a nicer model than my brothers.

Not really a garage sale find but a good deal nonetheless. I answered an ad in the local paper in Colorado in our small, mountain town for a Mini-14GB and a Colt CAR-15 for sale. This was around 1997 or 98 during the Clinton AWB. Guy wouldn't talk price...said come see 'em if I was interested. I almost didn't go because it was about an hour drive over a 10000' foot pass in the winter. But I did. I didn't think I could afford the Colt so I asked what he wanted for the Ruger. Guy said, "I'll only sell them together just like I advertised." OK, fine...how much for both? "I won't take a penny less than $700. I have a fine to pay at the courthouse or I'm going to jail tomorrow." He was probably in his 60s and said he was asking $100 more than what he paid for them in the late 70s and thought that was fair. I told him that I'd love to pay him that for both but the Ruger alone was worth almost that much at the time. He said he wasn't gonna be allowed to have them after tomorrow and just wanted what he paid plus a little extra. OK...I counted the $20 bills into his hands and left with 2 very nice rifles.

Still have the GB. The Colt is long gone...because I'm stupid sometimes.

I found a pristeen Universal M1 carbine, I mean like NEW, I asked the lady running the sale "how much?" she said "I think my husband said 50 dollars....he'll be back in a bit if you wanna wait" "no" I said I'll go ahead and take it...Got my karma a few years later when my son sold my 80.00 box of ammo for 8.00 bucks while I was getting donuts.

Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.
Yankee Push Drill that a woman had listed as a "long screwdriver" for $2.00. I snagged that right up, even had the bits inside. should have seen her face when i opened it up; i love finding old stuff.
I have my Dad's and still use it from time to time when I don't want to drag out the electric drill.

My father in law is a lifelong garage sale addict. He’s got 15 or 20 acres covered with all kinds of stuff (junk) he’s found at garage sales and auctions. Most of the stuff he paid pennies on the dollar for. Recently he’s started arranging it for ‘display’.

Picked up a nice Remington 66 Brown stock at a garage sale in Amarillo many years ago for 15.00, bolt handle was missing and had a screw in it instead but it was the correct treading and easy to replace.

I haven’t been to a garage sale in years.
I think I shared that already.

Today I was feeling inspired because of this thread and pulled in to one.

I’m not sharing what I paid for this or how many of both I got but here’s a pic.
I will say I haven’t seen these this cheap ever. 😁
