So I’ve been thinking a great deal about how different our country could PERMANENTLY after this pandemic has settled down in say 1-1.5 yrs and there on. This thing is going to change this country and the world in some cases, so what’s your ideas on this? Here’s some of mine:

1. Health care will change. Preparedness enough quality workers, the number of hospitals most assuredly will change.

2. Some if not many companies and indeed types of companies will no longer be around. The travel industry, recreation services, Pro Sports, entertainment, casinos, etc. I believe high unemployment will return for yrs come because income will not be the same. Our govt programs such as entitlements will be trimmed down because the federal budget will need to be trimmed in order to function.

3. Pace of life will change some. Less money to spend on recreation will cause families to recreate in far different ways. Shooting ranges may actually grow in number vs going on cruises, or vacationing.

Anyway my thoughts here are just an effort to begin a discussion of what our country will be like as we come out of this. THERE WILL be some profound differences in our country as this is an historic wake up call

I agree with most of the above, with the exception of timing. I believe most things will return to pre-virus levels by Qtr 4 0f this year. Some things will take a bit longer to rebuild, but the majority of income levels and wealth will come back fairly quickly.

Why do you believe this?

The economy was strong prior to this. With the exception of maybe the cruise industry and a couple of others, the demand for goods and services will have seen little decline. Society is accustomed to obtaining what we want, when we want it.

The media will attempt to paint doom & gloom prior to the election in order to paint Trump as inept while Biden could have done so much better. I think that may be the major influence on recovery.

I heard the other day that some (could’ve been all) these cruise companies aren’t even US taxpayers. That being said, how does these US economy benefit from them? If I’m wrong, tell me. I pretty much couldn’t care less about any company that Americans spend a bunch of money with that doesn’t help our economy.

Sadly, I don't see any of those things changing to a great degree. I do think the .gov will 'stockpile' more supplies. And there will be some companies that get super rich from it. Did you know our government and many others around the world stockpiled MILLIONS of doses of Tamiflu? You know, that med that was only proven to reduce the LENGTH of the flu illness by a day or so? And never really shown to help symptoms or reduce mortality? Yeah... at $150 per course of treatment. We paid for that.

As for all the rest, if you think the private healthcare companies are going to keep more people employed once numbers get back down to normal, you're wrong. They will cut back to skeleton staff just like before. And the .gov will always be there to bail us out when things get tough. To tell us what we can and can't do, to hand everyone a fat check of dollars they printed, and watch from a distance as inflation and the national debt goes up.

Maybe I'm wrong. Hope so... but we'll see.

I think it will we return to pretty much normal. 9/11 changed FEMA procedures, the hurricanes that followed changed/revised FEMA procedures again and all for the better. Not that it's great out there, but those events greatly prepared us for this event. People aren't working because things are closed, once things open back up it will turn around. Oil and gas is a different issue all together imo.

Hoping all the people that have been ignoring gun laws got a huge wake up call !! 2 folks I know that leaned toward gun control are now talking about how the did not realize the 4473 even existed!! Blind following the agenda driven media !!! One of the dill holes asked if he could "borrow " my Taurus 38 and I told him :hellno:, go fill out a 4473 and buy one . This man was arguing a couple months ago there should be a national gun registry but now the twit does not want any one to know he has a gun!
