The problem with having a state full of people who "just want to be left alone" is that eventually you realize that they don't intend to ever leave you alone.
Then you become something else.
Yep.

Lots of good people here who suscribe to the "live and let live" philosophy. Nothing wrong with that except that the commie/socialist/lefty crowd does not adhere to that policy and is always on the attack.
Some of you call yourselves "liberals". Fine. Pick any label you want but I suspect that you are still hanging onto the "liberal" label from the '70's when "liberals" just wanted to live life as they pleased without any government interference. Sounds a lot like conservatives today. Weird.

I was sittin' in a Sunday School class many years ago with a retired Air Force fellow who was teaching. I really respected this guy, he lived what he professed.

He lamented the state of the country, how screwed up things were getting, and how we have strayed from our Christian foundation. Then he lamented how stores are open on Sundays and how "blue laws" used to prevent that sort of godless behavior....

I asked him if he supported a theocracy. He said no, but we were a Christian nation and those laws don't make it a theocracy.

Some folks really can't leave others alone.

I always believed Oklahoman's to be hard-working, honest, willing to lend a hand when necessary. But as the rural v. urban dynamic continues to grow, those tendencies are changing.

Can you not see the pics? Do you not comprehend the data? It's one ****ing percent through the entire county. The metro areas are blue. WTF do you want? Dude, you seem to argue everything I post up? Do I have a problem with you? For someone who claims to want to be left alone, you're really plucking my feathers.

I don't understand the data? Whatever... You posted a picture of voter precincts. A few are blue. A precinct isn't a county. You even quoted the data that says Oklahoma county voted republican by about 1% and then argue it's "decidedly blue"? You said yourself, "None of them voted blue..." and then say they're "decidedly blue".

"Decidedly" means there's no question about something. It's unambiguous, clear cut, unquestionably, emphatically, definitely.

I'm sorry that logic and facts ruffle and pluck your feathers. That's a you problem, not a me problem. But, I'm done. If you don't get it now you never will. Feel free to have the last word.

Many years ago, maybe 40, when I used to do such things, I was talking with a young woman about religion in public schools.

Her stance was that no religion should be taught in public schools whatsoever, even in a historical context. Then, as the conversation (and her stance) evolved, she shifted to - well, if any religion at all is taught in a perhaps historical context, it should be a good, solid. middle of the road religion.

Like Methodism.

I looked at her and said - Let me guess....you're a practicing Methodist ?

She was actually totally mystified, "How did you guess?" she said.

Yep... I'd definitely call myself a classical liberal. Most of the founding fathers and our system of government was based on the beliefs of individual freedoms. That idea has definitely been lost among most of the population in the last 120 years. A classical liberal is the absolute opposite of how we generally describe a liberal today.

The marijuana thing was an aberration and mostly came about because of the huge medical marijuana lie that was sold to us.

If Oklahoma had known it was going to be like this it would have never passed.

Liberals lie. Always remember that

I would fit a lot of 'conservative' checkboxes for sure, but I've also certainly evolved into more of a libertarian mindset. I wish the labels and parties would go away and everyone would have to evaluate candidates based on their views and records. When I see a national vote in the senate/house fall along perfect party lines it is evidence to me of just how stupid the game is.
