Hello, I recently purchased a Ruger M77 markII VT chambered in 220 swift. Right now I’m shooting factory hornady 55 grain vmax and the gun seems to shoot them fairly well. I was wanting to use this rifle next year during deer season and was wondering what handloads you guys have found to work best? Any feedback is appreciated!!

I use the flat base 55gr Vmax #22271 in my .223 and it moves at a tick under 3200fps from my barrel and has worked wonderfully on Hogs, deer and every other critter I shot with it.
All 1 shot kills..Shot placement is key as you should know.

I do not have a swift but if that bullet is accurate for you I would not be afraid to use it .
I did much testing with my loads before I shot a live animal with mine.

Your swift may be 400+ fps faster than my .223 so I would test performance.
Maybe you can find a deer body that is dead or a head and neck of a deer or hog to shoot at.
I saved one from bow season and shot it and dissected it to see what kind of wound channel it created.

Yea fun stuff.
