I've got a bunch of bottles and tubs of firearms lubricants, cleaners and bore polishers in the bottom of my cleaning tackle box, some are well over 20 years old (And probably need to be thrown away). Still, in the last decade I've been using the same quart of Mobil 1 oil that I bought on sale for about $4. Still has about 3/4 in it. I apply with an oiler and shaving brush as needed. Nice on SA rifles because it doesn't start smoking off the barrel as quick as dino based oils. I also have a little tub of Militec grease someone gave to me. Works good on the Garand, M1A and sparingly on contact points of my carry pistols. Stays put, unlike oil. Don't know if it's really any better than wheel bearing grease, but it saves me from having to walk out to the barn and squirt a blob of grease from my grease gun onto a paper towel to use.
