My money is on a Savage Model 110-GX.
"The Model 110G was produced from 1989-94. The rifle used a 22-inch barrel for standard chamberings, and a 24-inch barrel for magnum chamberings. The stock was of beech, with a non-slip rubber buttplate. One of the chamberings was .300 Savage, but after numerous complaints about cracked stocks, this chambering was withdrawn in 1995, after two years. The Model 110G had an internal magazine, but the Model 110GC, produced from 1992-94, had a detachable box magazine. The Model 110GL was the left-handed version. The Model 110 GNS and GLNS were versions of the standard and left-handed models with no iron sights. I don't believe the hole in the tang is for a screw. Model 110 schematics show it as a Safety Insert (part 20B)
The Trigger Guard screws would be parts 19B & 19C

Thats not a screw hole its where the little red plastic insert with the F on it for fire . i know savages pretty well. had a few
no offense but that rifle is 100% completely worn out i made him give my money back it should be cut in half and thrown away worst ive ever seen very sorry dont want anyone else to get taken.
if you tighten the front action screw so its not loose in the stock the bolt wont open because it has the wrong blind box and follower in it.
he had it on arms list also i told him to be truthful if he was going to try to sell it and he got mad and drove off. really should be destroyed. its worst ive ever seen
