The railed receiver cover is not a compliance part. Based on 922 (importation ban) no more than 10 imported parts from the following list can be used to build any type rifle from parts. (1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings (2) Barrels (3) Barrel extensions (4) Mounting blocks (trunions) (5) Muzzle attachments (6) Bolts (7) Bolt carriers (8) Operating rods (9) Gas pistons (10) Trigger housings (11) Triggers (12) Hammers (13) Sears (14) Disconnectors (15) Buttstocks (16) Pistol grips (17) Forearms, handguards (18) Magazine bodies (19) Followers (20) Floorplates On this list, only seventeen apply to the FAL/L1A1 type rifle. (1) Receivers (2) Barrels (3) Barrel extensions N/A (4) Mounting blocks (trunions) N/A(5) Muzzle attachments (6) Bolts (7) Bolt carriers (8) Operating rods*** (9) Gas pistons (10) Trigger housings (11) Triggers (12) Hammers (13) Sears (14) Disconnectors N/A(15) Buttstocks (16) Pistol grips (17) Forearms, handguards (18) Magazine bodies (19) Followers (20) Floorplates *** Charging Handle That leaves you with 7 parts to replace, unless you have no threaded muzzle, then you only must replace 6 parts. Century can't and won't tell you what US parts they used. Most folks would agree Century used the butthole stock as two parts (Pistol grip and buttstock). Other parts they may or may not have added are hammer, trigger, sear, gas piston, charging handle, receiver (yours is not US), flash hider (or neutered model welded in place). Occasionally you find a rifle that came with US made floor plates and followers on the mags as 2 parts, meaning inf you were to install any other mags you just violated the law. I would check this parts list with what the owner claims he replaced to determine if the rifle is compliant or not. If the rifle is compliant, $800 is pretty fair. I can't imagine how he scavenged 6 US parts for $80 in 2007. Check the Hammer/trigger/sear. They will be stamped with a "C" if they were made by Century. A Century Gas Piston is not stamped.
