It's losing popularity in USPSA as well because now Carry optics division is a thing.
I'll stick with my .40 Limited gun for awhile longer.
Limited might be losing participation, but there is no better caliber for gaming Limited.

To the thread: Now days .40SW gives basically nothing over good 9mm bonded hollow points at 124 grains and up except for less capacity and higher cost. The same could be said for .45. From a completely ballistic standpoint the .40 is probably the best of all of them, but terminal results no longer bear that out. I've never liked it's snappiness and would take a .357 Sig all day every day over it, but if I want to shoot fat bullets, give me .45.
