I supervise two young women. I leave the office door open (well, it's open all the time now that I think about it) but I do try to be careful not to be in a situation where we're alone together. Sure, I don't want any false accusations against me but it's just as much for their benefit as it is mine. We have to trust each other to back each other up and I want to create an atmosphere where they trust me as much as I do them and not be concerned with things like harassment, rumors, etc. so they can put their full attention on the job at hand. I replaced the last supervisor because he couldn't keep his $&%^ in his pants. And yes, I pay them all equally except for one guy who's been here even longer than I have and his seniority means he's just gotten more raises over the years but the standards are the same for everyone. The biggest guy on my team wants everyone to know he's an "alpha" but his insecurity is obvious. He's still good at his job, he's just young and lacks experience. As for the topic, my trigger point is my family and friends who are considered family. You come in trying to throw your weight around, you better make damn sure you're in the right or you'll have the full weight of the sanjuro clan bearing down on you. Believe me, the women are just as hostile as the men in those situations and I'm pretty sure several of them have a string of scalps to prove it...
