I just saw this post by a rescue we help.

"
Public announcement:
White tail deer/fawn movement banned statewide in Oklahoma pending CWD investigation/outcome.

Wild Heart will be rejecting all calls for deer and fawns unless and until the ban is lifted. We will be instructing callers to replace the fawns where they found them. Anyone who brings a deer or fawn here will be turned away and told to replace it where they found it. Injured deer or fawns: please contact law enforcement or game wardens to euthanize so they do not suffer. None of us are allowed to move any deer."

They should just put out a statement not to touch them period unless they're about to be swathed, baled or combined over and then just move them over 20y and leave them alone. Why folks feel like they must load a fawn up and take it town to rescued is beyond me.
And usually not always are returned to the wild being use to human contact and don’t live very long

Exactly. Leave the young where you find them and don't touch.

Those taken to a rescue usually do live. Wildheart Rescue gets dozens every year and the vast majority make it thru the bottle fed stage and are turned out into a large pen where they get over being use to humans. As soon as weaned out they go into the care of a donkey After a few weeks they will not let a human near and are learning to survive in the wild and with a herd. Release days are always fun.
