[QUOTE="dennishoddy, post: 3810413, member: 5412"] Your absolutely correct. We visited Avery Island last November. I remember when a kid, just a couple dots on an egg was more than enough heat. The sauce had to be shaken from the bottle to get a drop vs now when it pours out the same diameter hole that past bottles had. After touring the tobasco facility, we ended up at the gift shop. In the shop you can taste all the different sauces. The raspberry chipotle on ice cream was incredible! There was one bottle called the family reserve sauce. So I asked to try a sample of that. Holy crap it was the sauce from the 60’s. Thick, dark and hotter than hades. Just a few drops in a tiny spoon had me sweating with hair folicals tingling. Asked the attendant where I could buy this stuff and she replied, your standing there. One place on earth to get the original recipe was the gift shop on Avery island. I left with a tad over $200 worth. A year later wishing I’d doubled that order. Man, that old recipie that was later changed in the 70’s is good.
