Kinda like why does a dog lick his male parts? Because he can.

There's an old Lewis Grizzard story about two guys watching a U of Georgia football game when they see Uga (the live bulldog mascot) start licking himself. One guy says, "man, I wish I could do that!" And the other replies, "that dog would bite you!"
