Why would iHeart Radio want my gender and date of birth from Google?

I was trying to sign back in to iHeart after downloading this POS app to my new phone when it gave me a choice. I could use these three to sign in to my existing account.

Iheart
Facebook
Google

I hate facebitsh so it was Google or iHeart
Hmmm, I have an iHeart account let's try that.

iHeart requires my email and password which I use. Then it wants a decision to share the email or not. I chose not. The sign in won't work because I'm not hooked up to a network or cell. B.S.! I tried for a week sitting right next to the router. No Go.

I tried Google and guess what?
iHeart now wants me to give them permission to know my gender and date of birth or I cannot sign in.

Anyone know any alternative besides Pandora and Spotify? I just want to listen to my AM talk radio stations which the others don't have.
