Lived in the country all my life, chickens, cats, dogs, guineas and small children(me). Heard and seen coyotes all my life, never had an issue. Other than that, poisioning is irresponsible. Coyotes won't be the only animals attracted by the bait, people's pets, and other wildlife will as well. Some people don't care about stuff like that, but those people are simple minded. Co-exist or move to the city, it's easier instead of worrying if some critter in the night will eat your dog. Could bring the pets indoors at night and keep your yard clean. Ive never had an issue, but I don't shoot anything I don't eat, nor does anyone else in my family. So I assume the packs living around my homes were kept in check simply by their own heirarcy, dunno, but keep in mind killing off a few from the same pack often causes uncontrolled breeding and less of a well maintained group of animals. Basically creating a group of critters running amuck doing whatever they please. Just saying.
