Not sure I will transition to pellets in lieu of 22 cal full time but though I do have a few neat pellet guns like some from Sig I picked up an Air Force Texas SS PCP in 30 cal this weekend. Cool shooter. And I've ordered a high pressure electric compressor because the hand pump SUCKS. Ha ha

Don't waste your time with break barrel pellet rifles. It doesn't take long before the accuracy goes away when the hinge gets loose.
The OGE power plant I worked at before retiring bought a dozen or so high end break barrels to eliminate the bird problem and poop that was everywhere.
Really accurate at the start, and junk after a month or so. The scope is attached to the reciever, the barrel is at the other end of a hinge. When the barrel gets loose, so does the accuracy.
Look at a side cocker where the barrel and receiver are one for an air rifle that one can pass on to their heirs. I also recommend a .22 caliber vs .177.

Not in Oklahoma!
Had a chance to play with a Benjamin Sheridan Discovery 22 cal years ago. And I could see going that route!

All I really need is a pair of entry level plinkers for my back yard,,,
If they can hit plastic army men at 25 yards,,,
I'll be perfectly happy with them.

I'm going into town again today,,,
I'll stop by Atwood's and Academy for another look.

Maybe they will have something,,,
On sale.

I have been shooting a break barrel RWS for over 30 years and it is still as accurate as it was when it was new. Bought an Airforce PCN and it is also accurate. The PCN is easier to shoot as you don't have to cock the barrel. It does need a moderator on it to quiet it down for use in town, which I can't due to being again the law in OKC to shoot one.

When I was in Wally World today,,,
I saw that they had a .177 Crossman break-barrel,,,
For the very affordable price of a one hundred dollar bill.

Then when I stopped to check my mail at the P.O.,,,
I found my first oil royalty check of the year.

Conoco sent me $174 plus change,,,
I think I'll get that Crossman.

It comes with a 4X scope,,,
Which will be perfectly adequate at 25 yards.

And if I decide that I like it well enough,,,
I'll get a matching one with my next royalty check.

Come the Spring I'll set up a range with a pellet backstop,,,
And invite my friends over for some gentle plinking.
