I came home from work one day,,, Just in time to stop an Oklahoma County Sheriff Deputy from shooting my greyhound. My wife was out side screaming at the deputy,,, She actually put herself between a 12-guage and the dog. Long story short the deputy had a warrant for our other dog,,, It was a six-month old puppy who had "nipped" my nephews arm. She took him to a doctor and told him it was a dog bite,,, That triggered a response from the doctor to call animal control,,, Who in turn contacted the Sheriff's office and started quarantine procedures. The deputy tried to go through the gate and get the puppy without notifying my wife,,, The greyhound was very protective of my wife and yard and barked at the deputy,,, So his first and only reaction was to shoot the greyhound. I pulled up just in time to see him trying to aim around my wife. I won't go too deep into what happened next but he quit trying to shoot my wife's dog,,, And placed me under arrest in cuffs for threatening a police officer. My wife was a former police dispatcher so she quickly called the OKC police department,,, The OKC Police didn't have a great relationship with the county sheriffs office,,, So the two OKC cops had no problem with confronting the deputy. I was released fairly quickly and was able to get the whole story,,, The Deputy was totally in the wrong as he didn't even try to knock on the door,,, But to hear him talk he was totally in the right to shoot the "dangerous dog" that barked at him. The wife gathered the puppy and gave it to the animal control officer who finally arrived,,, Two weeks quarantine and we had him back in hand. Not all law enforcement are bad folk,,, But the good ones might as well be bad guys too,,, As most of them won't do anything about the ones they know are thugs and bullies. About 27 years ago I was offered a chance to go to the Academy in Riverside, California,,, I turned the offer down because after some very deep self introspection,,, I decided that I was too hot tempered to be a decent officer,. I was afraid that I would start out with great intentions,,, But evolve into one of the arse-hole cops I hate. Aarond .
