Looks like I could grab an unfired Marlin model 30AS with a Charles Daly scope for $300....It is immaculate, no markings on the wood, no scratches...etc...deal or not? I don't know anything about older Marlin rifles....Thanks

That's not a bad deal for "immaculate". It's not a super duper great deal, but you're definitely not being taken advantage of for that quality at that price and you'd likely never lose money on it. If I was looking to buy a 30-30 and that quality 30AS was available I'd buy it. Charles Daly scopes are comparable to maybe Walmart Tasco or Bushnell.

The Marlin Model 30 is for all that matters a Model 336. The only diffrence is the wood.
