410 ot 20??

My wife really liked my father-in-laws 410. So I thought I would get a 410 pump for home defense. My Dad (& a couple of buddies), are telling me to get a 20ga pump instead. They say it more useful, about the same kick, & shells are cheaper. What do you out there in OSA country think?

I am no expert but IF you choose to go the .410 route, Winchester has some .410 defense rounds out that sure look nasty.

20 gauge. IMO you will want buck shot and the 20 gauge shell will hold more pellets. I have seen some 20 gauge buck shot but not sure where to buy .410 home defense or what i would pay for them.

recoil - not that much difference. some of those light .410 guns can kick.

Get a 20 gauge. Much more ammo choices and lower cost ammo as well.

I had the same dilemma and went with a 20ga. We both made the right decision. Now, which 20ga did you buy? I went dog cheap and got a Maverick. Best decision I could have made. A great gun for $164!

found a used mossberg pump in a pawn-shop for $200, also a Remmington 1100 Auto, on-line for $325, I'm leaning toward the Auto???
