I left a part time job because I was responsible for correcting the other employees mistakes. I never could understand why the owner kept the inept fools around. I was payed very well for doing so. I couldn't go a day without getting my feathers ruffled at the other employees, so I moved on. High blood pressure wasn't worth the pay in the end.

I have worked for the government, a very large insurance company and a bank... first time I came across a business where slackers didnt get fired.
Woah. Wait. You are saying you worked for the government and they didn't tolerate slackers? I currently work for a government agency and I'm surrounded by slackers. :D
I was about to ask if we worked together. It all sounded so familiar.

The guy across the aisle from me is a smart guy, BUT he loves gabbing about nothing important (celebrity crap of the day, tv shows, he loves lecturing about how much he knows about something. Tells you about every ailment he has, every drug he takes, it would be quicker to tell you what he doesn't take.) Another guy calls his wife every day giving her a recap of everything he's done since he left the house. He also calls anyone that ever said hi to catch up. It doesn't help that the cube walls funnel the sound to the ceiling to bounce it down into my cube so it feels like he's right beside me talking in my ear. Thankfully I have the "go-to-hell" scowl down pat so I'm usually left alone. That and the fact that several people there know I have guns, I guess I'm the scary guy at work. :D I can live with that.

What really bothers me is when people ask for my "help" with something and I go to "help" them. They suddenly are nowhere to be found, most of the time just down the hall chatting it up, while I'm doing what they needed "help" with by myself...

Might as well have said hey I don't really want to do this, so uh will you come do it for me. Ummm yeah, thanks.

You know what I am getting sick of? Co-workers who like to pretend like they do a lot, but in reality spend more time flapping their jaw than doing actual work. You know who I am talking about, the people who the only thing they are good at is making others believe they are hard workers... People who have what appears to be an infinite supply of vacation days by means of "calling in sick". The guy that comes in a hour or more late, takes a 2 hour lunch, leaves an hour early and talks in between. People who are always the victim. From department to department, its always someone else that made them leave, someone else taking the kudos... Then to top it all off, they take some insignificant task that they have been told is insignificant and try to burden you with it only to get pissy and cry like a baby when you follow your own priorities.

Another thing that frustrates me is when my boss is always handing me work, work that the people above could be doing. And when I ask him about it, Im told "If I want it done and within a reasonable amount of time, I have no other choice." At first,... I take it as a compliment, but then I start thinking,... "why in the hell dont you give it to so-and-so and tell them to have it done by xyz or its their arse..."

Learned a long time ago to quit worrying about what anybody else is doing.
Do my thing and get on with life.
