I've had several on backorder since Dec, and the available date keeps getting pushed back. I searched ARF and found a few postings about a shortage since last summer, which matches with my usual "Go To" dealers, like Palmetto, being out of stock before the Dec crazyness.. I realize that everything's in high demand but the BCG's seem to be the hardest to find (For reasonable prices).

I've always wondered how difficult it is to machine metal cylinders into a BCG. It doesn't seem to me that the manufacturers want to produce more since everyone is always wanting to buy one. I know there could be a certain amount the gov't wants for rifles and repairs but there always seems to be a lack of BCGs on the market.

Long story short, there ain't none! Keep in mind that quality BCG's from reputable manufacturers aren't going to be produced any faster. For example, BCM can't get components to manufacture as quickly, because everybody else is placing larger orders.

Also, expect some BCG's delivered in this period to substandard quality, as some manufacturers take shortcuts to deliver more.

The deal is, there ain't none to be had. BCG's were scarce before the Sandy Hook thing and will be scarce for awhile. The manufacturers only sell to the public what they can't use in their rifles/uppers and they need all they can get to keep up with demand.

Most Americans knew that Obama would get re-elected, and we also knew that he would go for gun control in his second term. That being said, vital components such as bolts, lowers, & upper receivers have been in short supply for almost a year now.

We put a BCG on Gunbroker just to see what it would bring, it brought a lot...lol

Why don't you guys just buy the whole rifle? I never understood the whole "parts" gun thingy? Seems like something we'd do here in Alaska to keep our old Subaru's running.

Maybe because:

1. It's expensive to buy the whole rifle outright
2. It's overall cheaper (usually) to buy the parts and assemble themselves
3. It's fun to learn to put it all together yourself
4. There is an inherent satisfaction in accomplishing a build yourself
5. Lead time from retailers is prohibitive
6. Markup from private sellers is prohibitive
7. Building custom makes more sense than buying stock and removing tons of parts to be replaced by aftermarket accessories
8. Buying parts over time allows one to spread the cost out without having to hold onto money in a "savings" fund

I dunno... could go on, I suppose.
