"full auto ak-47"? that's a bit redundant don't you think?

Next thing you know, people will be claiming M14s, M16s and M4s are "machine guns"!

Since I've seen and fired a semi auto AK47, and since those are actually legal to own, then no.. I don't think it's redundant to call it a full auto AK-47 when we are referring to one that has a fun switch.

Couldn't they just have got their tax stamp and it be legal, or is there something I'm missing? Sorry, I'm not Class III savvy

No, the only full-auto weapons available for civilian ownership are those that were registered with the ATF BEFORE May, 1986. You cannot add a new weapon to that original list (even if it was MADE before '86), only transfer ownership of the ones that already are. (hence the reason why legal civilian full-autos are so expensive, the supply is fixed, the demand is not.)

Haven't seen mug shots anywere yet. Think I may worked with that Troy kid years ago. "Idjit" back then too.:disappoin

You probably fired an Kalashnikov-pattern semi-automatic, not an AK47.
